Esperienza Italia - The 150th Anniversary of Italian Unification
 
IN 2011 ITALY WILL BE 150
 
On 17th March 1861 the unification of Italy was proclaimed in Torino. In 2011 the first capital will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the country with a great event: Esperienza Italia (Experience Italy).
 
 
 
 
ESPERIENZA ITALIA: A LOOK INTO THE FUTURE
The event will last from March to November 2011 and will evoke the past of Itay, invite debates on the present and encourage experiments for the future. It will present a rich calendar of exhibitions, cultural activities, sport competitions, performances, theme fairs and congresses that will present the best of Italy to the world.
 
TORINO, ITALY’S STAGE
The events will occur in some key places symbolizing both the history and the future: the Royal Palace of Venaria Reale, the former train repair shops, the Parco del Valentino (a XVII Century park lying on river Po) and the new park located in reconverted industrial areas on the river Dora.
In 2011 many other cultural venues will be restored and opened including the the Royal Palaces of Piemonte.
 
COMITATO ITALIA 150
It’s the committee that will organize the events in 2011. It was founded in Torino in May 2007 and its members are the Italian Government, the Local Authorities, the two major Bank Foundations, the Chambers of Commerce and the four Universities of the region.
